My First Copyright Strike and How I Addressed it!

In my youtube channel @lillboykyut , I have this segment called #JANGReacts where in I make reaction videos to certain people who I think is worthy to react with; and one of it is DIMASH KUDAIBERGEN from KAZAKSHTAN.

I made reaction vide to most of his performances in the singing competition called I AM SINGER (Click to know more about it) which is owned by Hunan Tv
He is definitely one hell of a singer!
On my last reaction for his GIVE ME LOVE performance, I uploaded it around 12:00 A.M. (pacific Time) last January 3, 2018. I even wore the DIMASH T-SHIRT sent to me by Miss Maite Abellanosa (Mamita) straight from the Philippines. After around 10 minutes, the video gathered a thousand views and plenty of comments. My statistics for any of my uploaded video is, I got around 200-300 views in an hour. I even checked my SEO ratings for this vid and it went super high. (SEO is Search engine Optimazation)
So All is WELL!
When I went to work, I usually check my youtube notifications in my phone because I make sure to reply to all the comments out there. I noticed one comment from Gian and it says...

Then, I checked my channel and guess what?
I got this notification.

I GOT COPYRIGHT STRIKE! :(
At first, I don't know what to do. I'm shocked. Then I panic because whenever I tried going to the CREATOR STUDIO tab (which gives you access to your dashboard in youtube) I CANNOT ACCESS IT! It always pops up that message of copyright strike.
I was given 3 options
Wait for it to EXPIRE.
Get a Retraction.
Submit a Counter Notification.
Option 1 is okay but I will wait 3 MONTHS! Yes, 3 MONTHS for the strike to expire. Also, if I have 2 additional strikes during that period, My channel will automatically be cancelled and I can't make another one! Sad right?
Option 2 is okay too but that all depends at HunanTv's response.
Option 3 is not viable, because definitely, I made use of HunanTv's video for commentary.
I was left with Option 1 and Option 2.
Then, I took the chance of sending an email to HunanTv because I can't barely see my channel having a strike. I will have anxiety with that.
Here is the email I've sent them.

I am so dramatic here but yeah, what I've said here is very true!
I made my own way to do the option 2 and so, do or die lor! If they will respond, better. If not, no choice but to go and wait for April 2, 2018. the expiry of the strike.
I almost forgot to mention, because you have this strike, you'll be given another option by youtube to watch COPYRIGHT SCHOOL and answer certain questions about copyright and you will regain access to your account.
So I watched and answered hor! (It was a youtube video of my favorite HAPPY TREE LIFE characters. Yarrrrrr!)

Then, I regain access to my account but with that visually not appealing strike and a sad face. Pains to the eye eh!
...........AFTER 1 DAY!............
I see no response from HunanTv but....
another comment from my beloved Gian.

I checked the video immediately. and poof!
IT'S BACK!
I really don't know how but one thing for sure, HunanTv retracted their copyright claims.
I think it helps when you personally send an email to them and ask their approval for any videos you would want to use.
The good thing also is, I was able to monetize the video.

With that, I personally want to extend my deepest gratitude to HunanTv for removing the strike. LESSON LEARNED!
To end this,
Be very careful when using someone else's video. As much as possible, ask permission to use it. Send an email, or private message them using youtube. (Yes there is a private message in youtube to the channel you would want to use.) Lastly, to be safe, GIVE CREDITS WHERE CREDIT IS DUE and MAKE ORIGINAL CONTENT.
TATA FOR NOW!
